Cranberry extract, do you really understand?

Cranberry is a favorite fruit. More than 100 years ago, cranberry was widely used in dyes for cooking or medicine. The fruit can be applied to the ointment to help the wound heal; the leaves are applied to urinary disorders, diarrhea and diabetes. 1. Prevention and control of women's urinary tract infections

Cranberry extract helps inhibit the growth and reproduction of a variety of pathogenic bacteria, prevents the adhesion of these pathogens to cells in the body (such as urinary tract epithelial cells), prevents and controls urinary tract infections in women, and reduces cranberry use. Bacterial adhesion to achieve anti-infective purposes, the mechanism of action is completely different from antibiotics, and will not produce drug resistance. 2. Reduce the incidence of gastric ulcer and gastric cancer

 Helicobacter pylori infection is a major cause of chronic active gastritis, peptic ulcer, gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma and gastric cancer. Numerous studies have shown that more than 90% of duodenal ulcers and about 80% of gastric ulcers are caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. In 1994, the World Health Organization classified Helicobacter pylori as a class I carcinogen. 3. Antioxidant effect

Proanthocyanidins contained in cranberry extract are the most effective antioxidants, and their antioxidant capacity is 20 times that of VC and 50 times that of VE. In the experiment of the effect of cranberry on the antioxidant function of aging mice and irradiated mice, the researchers used natural aging and irradiation to give different doses of cranberry powder for 30 days, respectively. And the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and malondialdehyde (MDA) in liver tissue. The results showed that cranberry improved the body's antioxidant capacity in both natural aging and irradiated mice.

4.Effect on type 2 diabetes

 Animal experiments have shown that long-term cranberry supplementation can prevent the decline of basal plasma insulin with age. A randomized double-blind clinical trial of 58 patients with type 2 diabetes found that patients taking 1 cup of cranberry juice daily can effectively lower blood sugar and apolipoprotein B, and increase apolipoprotein A1 and serum paraoxonase 1 activity.
